REMEMBRANCE DAY 2014
This Remembrance Day, Tuesday 11 November, Australians across the nation and around the world will pause at 11am for one minute’s silence to remember the sacrifice of those who have served in our country’s uniform during times of war and conflict.
Three Australian Second World War veterans will be presented with France’s highest honour, the Legion of Honour, at the Albany Convoy Commemorative Event being held in Albany, Western Australia.
In the lead up to Remembrance Day on Tuesday 11 November, I encourage all Australians to purchase and wear a red poppy, in support of the Returned and Services League’s (RSL) Poppy Day Appeal.
During questions in the Australian Federal Parliament’s Senate on Wednesday 29 October 2014, the Minister for Defence, Senator Johnston, referred to “notes” provided to the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, Senator Conroy, by the “head of the RSL”.
