Dear Prime Minister,
You will recall that on behalf of the National Board and Members of the Returned &Services League of Australia (RSL) I forwarded a Budget Submission on 29 August2014 appealing to Government on Veterans' Affairs issues for consideration inframing the Department of Veterans' Affairs portfolio budget for the FY 2015/2016. A copy of this submission is attached. At the time copies were also forwarded to the Minister for Veterans' Affairs and the Secretary of his Department.
At its meeting in Sydney today the National Board of the Returned & Services League of Australia (RSL) passed two motions deploring recent decisions about rates of pay for the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and the indexation of some veterans’ entitlements by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 2017. Both motions called on the Federal Government to amend these decisions.

The recent resignation of Mr Don Rowe as Deputy National President, NSW Branch State President and many other positions for health reasons brings to an end an exemplary period of service from which all in the RSL have benefitted. On a personal note I record my heartfelt thanks for Don’s many kindnesses over many years, his determination to always strive to do all he could to help those in need, his unstinting loyalty and his very genuine friendship.
